Hiltonia has five general meetings a year in a host home. These meetings usually present a person organization, or a subject of interest.
History of Hiltonia:
In 1920, Samuel Hilton bought up a plot of land that would begun construction on the neighborhood that he would name after himself, Hiltonia. This residential community houses 315 homes that are located approximately 3 miles from downtown Trenton within the western part of the city. Here you’ll find Cadwalader Park, which is a Olmsted park – a park done by a famous landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted. The park also contains the Ellarslie Museum which is great for the family! An interesting fact about this park is that bear named Briar Patch lived there from 1952-1983. He was the oldest Black Bear ever held in captivity!
In the present day, Hiltonia prides itself with its diversity in its housing stock.
These are the many goals Hiltonia wishes to accomplish:
1) Protect and promote the welfare of the Association area,
2) Advance civic and social interest,
3) Function on non-sectarian, non-political and non-racial principles, and
4) Provide support for worthwhile charitable, civic, and cultural projects within the City of Trenton.
Hiltonia has organized a series of debates for council and mayoral race in partnership with Beautiful Trenton. They were also a recipient of the Trenton Council of Civic Associations Civic Project of the Year for 2010. The organization works with the city to improve the atmosphere such as getting Hilvista Boulevard repaved and replacing vandalized street signs. There are lots of interactive activities to immerse yourself with including a website where residents can ask questions and receive answers and a new email system that allows communication between neighbors.
You can join Hiltonia today as a member if you own property or reside in Hiltonia. Membership is $15 per adult or $30 per couple. You can go to their official site to sign up: Hiltonia.
